Lecrae still amazingly reaches the urban crowd with his gospel rap style of music, while excluding profanity from his songs. In 2005 Lecrae Moore co-founded ReachLife Ministries to assist with training up the younger generation. Lecrae calls Dallas, Texas his home, although he was born in Southern Houston, Texas by his mother. Lecrae is a graduate of the University of North Texas, but before graduating he was a member of the gang life. He was running the streets with drug dealers and gangs; he became a drug dealer also.

His grandmother gave him a Bible when he was a young child that Lecrae called his good luck charm. His grandmother influenced him to start going to church at age 17. At age 19 Lecrae decided to attend church more often and live for God.

The "Clipse" Hip Hop member "No Malice" searched out for Lecrae to be his Spiritual advisor. Lecrae won an award for Best Male Artist for 2006 by Rapzilla.
